Community Update 39

  • Medha
    • We have chosen to push back the HackerOne engagement until Economics are in place.
    • Medha works with Mike and Kyle on sharding. We need engineering details.
    • Scope creep is paramount.  The team is concerned about locking down what we will deliver for Mercury.
  • Rholang team:
    • Team met with Nash to re-asses the block storage architecture.  New design and specification is being written up.
    • Name registry is merged.
    • Removing the ability to send or listen on forgeable names. 
    • Progress made in making the interpreter stack secure.
    • Enhanced the algorithm to find the most common ancestor in the DAG, addresses the InvalidBondsCache error
    • Plan to update the Clique safety oracle to use this in memory representation of the DAG, expect that this will speed up show-blocks.
    • Validator bonding is on track.
    • Some churn in cost accounting, discovered an issue while implementing matching for the tuplespace.  The team is discussing 
  • Storage/Node team:
    • Fine grained locking (disjoint channels) work is progressing, PR will be merged today.  Need to test to see if the work pays off.  We will know by the end of this week if the work will pay off.
    • Fixed the Node shutdown issue (existed in rspace layer)
    • Continued work on separating Kademlia from RChain protocol. Expect to finish the work today and complete PR.
    • Message queues (chunking & unlimited block size) almost done. Working through bug around messages being received.  PR coming soon.
    • Threading improvements continue.
    • SRE is moving our CI solution to a self-hosted Drone solution.  On track to complete on schedule.
