Community Update 17

  • Medha
    • Preparation for 3/29 release of RNode with the Rholang Evaluator and RSpace, to support the Rholang evaluator and offer a standalone library for Scala developers.
      • The Node will run in 2 modes, either in P2P mode, or Evaluator mode
      • If you ran a node before, you need to upgrade your node.  The handshake has been updated, and won't work with old nodes.
    • Planning for April Release - Specification and ticket review this week
    • We need help from the community supporting our releases.  It involves moderating the forum, replicating reported issues and then filing a Jira ticket or escalating questions to the development team.  We need the development team focusing on our next set of releases, so this is an important ongoing support role.  I will work this into the bounty program as well.
    • Developer retreat - April 17-18 in Colorado.  We will be talking in detail about the architecture as well as the roadmap to Mercury.  More details are available on developer.rchain.coop- Agenda is set and will be published next week.
  • Compiler team:
    • Evaluator Demo by Kyle
  • Node team:
    • Storage - Demo
    • Release preparation, packaging and documentation
  • Rosette team:
    • RBL Compiler - preliminary test was a success.  Keith had to make changes to both the VM and the Compiler, but was able to run boot.rbl!
      • Timm is going to perform a deep dive and make sure that everything is working.
      • Implication is now we have a reference point for OpCode output from the compiler
    • We are leaning towards compiling Rholang directly to OpCodes for execution by the VM.
  • Website
    • Releases and tutorial will be pushed to the developer site as part of our release process.
  • Demos!
