RChain RCon3 scholarship
Overview
The RChain cooperative board has approved funding for scholarships to support participation in RCon3. More information about RCon3 is at https://developer.rchain.coop/conference.
The RCon3 scholarship program will solicit scholarship applications and will rely on a committee of at least five members of the cooperative to review these applications based on a rubric, and to make recommendations to the board.
Selection process
The RChain scholarship program solicited volunteers to participate on the scholarship committee on June 4, 2018. We received ten applications. From those 6 were invited to be on the committee along with two employees of the RChain Coop and an administrator from Pyrofex.

Round one scholarship awards
The deadline for round one scholarship applications was July 20. Due to the small number of applicants, all applicants who met the eligibility requirements were offered a scholarship that includes: free event registration and 100% reimbursement for travel and lodging expenses associated with attending RCon3.

2 applications were duplicates
35 applications reviewed for meeting eligibility requirements by the committee
23 scholarships awarded
12 scholarships applications denied due to not being a RChain Cooperative member at the application deadline, and if there was already a record of membership payment by the deadline, after an invitation to complete the membership verification process by Aug. 1.
3 scholarship awards deferred to RCon4 to support time required to secure a visa.

The deadline for round one scholarship applications was Aug. 6. Due to the small number of applicants, all applicants who met the eligibility requirements were offered a scholarship that includes: free event registration and 100% reimbursement for travel and lodging expenses associated with attending RCon3.
